New “Kid” On The Search Block

Anna Patterson’s last search engine code was so impressive that Google snapped it up in 2004 to update their own software. Now Anna is back - but she’s keeping this one to herself. Cuil - pronounced Cool - is a new alternative to Google in the ever expanding wars for search engine dominance. At first look I have to say that not only is Cuil very “cool” looking - but when I searched the word revolverfm - 8 of the 10 searches returned all point to articles that originated right here. So, natch, I love them already.

Add to that, that as far as I can see so far, they haven’t kissed China’s backside to limit their product and suddenly I feel, well, downright smitten by the whole thing. Give it a try - it’s located at Cuil.com.

The best thing about Cuil? It doesn’t retain its users search history - something that Google does despite outcrys from privacy advocates. NOT cuil. Er, cool.
