How many times have you heard of a great band out of Lawrence, Kansas? Probably not that often. But one of my favorite Indie artists of late is the band Ghosty who does indeed come from that corner of the world. Their new CD “Answers” is at times soft and gorgeous, always well crafted infectious pop.

Of all of the new Indie releases I’ve come across lately this is the one I keep going back to for more. It’s been a long wait for the band’s growing following - their debut “Grow Up Or Sleep In” was released in 2005. The band hit the road after that release, and then over time the band eventually found themselves back in the same studio in Norman Kansas where “Grow Up” was recorded.

In a landscape of sound alike recordings, “Answers” is fresh and immensely entertaining. My personal favorites are “Dumbo Wins Again”, “You Are A Big Screen”, “A Good Customer”, “Junior Grows Up” and “Like A Bad Lie”.

If you’re a fan of bands like The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service or The Decemberists, this collection of tunes should nicely fit your tastes.
